If Notion is downloading very slowly, it could also be due to the size of the app itself. The progress bar gives you a slow download, but this may only appear because of the size of the app. In the event of an update, you can check in the respective app store how big the installation file is and see whether it may load for so long due to its size.
You might be asking “Is notion really that slow?”
The only time I ever had issues with Notion being slow was when I was using the app. Before the more recent updates, the Notion Android app was slower than molasses in January, which (combined with the previous block limit on the free version) was a huge dealbreaker for me at the time.
I’ve never had a problem with lagging. Perhaps coincidence, or perhaps you’re into something. If you’re right, then yes, it would be great if Notion didn’t have that problem. BUT if it exists, and if your hack solves it, then that’s quite a discovery. Now it will be easy to measure.
Why do you use notion?
The searches, the typing, the linking, referencing, image uploading, etc etc etc all speedy and creates a frictionless experience. Even the mobile is speedy fast. This is one big reason why I made the switch. At least until Notion starts bidirectional linking and really ups their game in speed.

Is the notion Android app slower than molasses?
Before the more recent updates, the Notion Android app was slower than molasses in January, which (combined with the previous block limit on the free version) was a huge dealbreaker for me at the time. I ended up back with Notion a few months ago, and it runs great both from my browser on my Chromebook and on my Android app.
Does notion work offline?
Notion should let its users backup to Cloud services of their choice in readable formats. It’s not rocket science, an app that works offline will behave the same way whether or not you’re connected to the internet. If I wanted to take notes in Apple Notes, for example, I can just open the app and start typing.
Does notion have access to my notes?
Due to the lack of end-to-end encryption, Notion has access to your notes. They see everything. In good faith, we trust that the employees at Notion who have access to our data won’t abuse it, but why take the risk? If Notion insists on storing our notes on their servers (which they do), they should at least encrypt it.
