Microsoft says Edge is getting toolchain optimizations, a fundamental change that should improve the performance and general browsing workloads. According to Speedometer 2.0 benchmark, Microsoft Edge’s new alpha version is 13% faster than the Microsoft Edge 79 (stable build).
Microsoft Edge, found exclusively on Windows 10, is a speedy browser, outclassing many of its rivals. But thanks to an experimental feature it could be up to 40% faster in some scenarios.
Ironically, Edge has continually been picking up new features and functionality. Meanwhile, one of the issues I have battled with since it came into existence is performance. Even in the most recent release of Windows 10, Edge seems to have its moments where it’s either revving up my laptop fan or it’s groggy at times.
Is Microsoft Edge better than Firefox?
Edge’s UI is sticky in comparison, as was Firefox’s for years – lots of little delays and stickiness for routine UI operations. (Now, the new Firefox “Quantum” seems far quicker and slicker than before, better than Edge, and maybe as good as Chrome.).

It also doesn’t have the restrictions on the extensions as is much easier to use than Google Chrome. Microsoft Edge executes the Java. Script much faster than Chrome. Netflix and many other sites also run much faster in Edge than Chrome. Not only this but Microsoft Edge gives better battery performance as compared to Chrome.
