Apple has quietly released i. Tunes 12.6.3, which reintroduces the ability to download App Store apps and ringtones from within the i. Tunes desktop software.
Apple has silently made i. Tunes 12.6.3 available for download, and this is a special version that still includes all of the old functionality – the App Store, i. Books, and ringtones. It’s up for grabs for PCs and Macs, and is meant for certain businesses performing internal app deployments. That said, anyone can install and use it.
Is the Microsoft Store the same as iTunes?
The Store App is the Same i, and tunes. The version of i. Tunes in the Microsoft Store isn’t some sort of “stripped down” universal app. This is the same i. Tunes desktop application you know and (probably don’t) love.
Does Apple still offer a desktop version of iTunes?
Apple still offers an i. Tunes version with App Store, Ringtones and other features removed in ‘focused’ i, and tunes 127. For people mourning the loss of a desktop i. Tunes client to store their app library or check the best-selling app charts, there is some hope.
Apple apparently released i. Tunes 12.6.3 as an alternative version because “certain business partners might still need to use i. Tunes to install apps. ” But even if you are not a “business partner” you can still download and install i. Tunes 12.6.3 and use the version of i. Tunes to manage apps with an i. Phone or i. Pad connected through a Mac or Windows PC.
Apple is offering an alternative version of i. Tunes available to download, it has the App Store. Thus if you want the App Store in i. Tunes, installing i. Tunes 12.6.3 is the only option aside from downgrading. I would not say it is ‘dumb,’ but it IS true that there is a down-side to installing the 12.6.3 app version.
