How microsoft teams uses memory?

Microsoft says that Teams uses memory by detecting how much memory is available on a system and utilizing memory accordingly for the rendering process. So, Teams running on a system with 32 GB RAM will use more memory than a system with, say, 2 or 4 GB RAM.

Microsoft Teams uses the Chromium memory management model which is a part of the Electron. It is used by Teams for rendering the UI and text. Being an intensely graphical application, a lot of rendering is done, hence the high memory usage.

Microsoft Teams will sometimes use more memory but consistently using a significant amount of RAM isn’t normal for the app. It isn’t meant to slow the system down or tax the performance of other apps.

This memory usage can be fixed by restarting the app, and as an added measure, restarting the system. If Microsoft Teams continues to use excessive memory after being restarted, move on to the fixes further below. Update Microsoft Teams Microsoft Teams updates fairly often and some updates may result in memory usage problems.

However, Electron apps can sometimes suffer from severe memory issues, similar to the complaints that have plagued Chrome users over the years. However, there are ways to mitigate the memory consumption issue on Teams, and you can use these tips for other Electron-based apps that have memory usage issues too.
