Make a new private Slack channel
Launch Slack in Shift, then open your Slack workplace
In the sidebar, click the plus icon beside “Channels”
Toggle the “Public” button to “Private”
Enter a channel name (eg. squashsquad)
Under “Purpose” you can add an optional description of the channel
Choose which members to invite by typing their names—although, you can add more later
Hit “Create channel”.
Another common question is “How do I convert a Slack channel to private?”.
Click Change to Private to confirm. A message will post in the channel to let members know it’s been converted. It’s not possible to convert a channel to private from the Slack i. OS or Android app.
Some authors claimed to take action on a channel, click the three dots icon to the right of the channel name and select an option. Make and save your changes. Slack will post a message to the channel to let members know what action was taken by which owner or admin. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
