Another question we ran across in our research was “Why is Google Drive so slow to download?”.
It has an outstanding download and upload speed with the lowest possible lag period a user might suffer. This is because its CDNs (content delivery networks) are placed at multiple locations around the world. However, sometimes Google Drive might buckle down for a while due to certain issues.

For example, if you have a large number of cells or calculations in a spreadsheet, it might take longer to load and users might think that there is a problem. Try opening files of different sizes and see if the problem occurs for each file.
Again, it’s very unlikely for either Google servers or networks to have a very slow speed or a high latency rate. If the files sync very slowly with local files or remote files, there has to be an issue with the connectivity of the user. Find the Google Drive icon in the Taskbar.
So, why does Google Drive have so much traffic?
And another reason might be the traffic they are receiving as most of the people are using Google drive for file distribution such as movies, videos, PDF which are downloaded most frequently consuming some bandwidth. So load sharing becomes the bottleneck here. What’s a good investment for 2022?
Why are my files so slow to download?
If the files are marked offline, then they will be locally cached and you’ll not see the slowness. If the files are not offline, then the process requires the files to be downloaded and cached before the zip process can process the files. The slowness is directly related to the speed of your internet connection.
Is it possible to zip files from Google Drive?
Zipping files from Google drive is unnaturally slow. This is a frustrating and time consuming waste of user time. Please fix this. I am aware there is a installed tool as a workaround. However, this isn’t always possible to install and thus is NOT a solution to this problem. Google team, please fix this as a priority.
