To find the Lightroom presets that you recently downloaded onto your computer, visit your hidden files. On a Mac computer, this will mean going into your Finder window and clicking on the “Go” menu item while holding your “Option” key. When you hold option, you’ll be able to find your library folder.
For your reference, the folder you are ultimately looking for in most of these instances is the “Develop Presets” folder as seen below: While you can certainly hunt down the folder by searching through your hard drive, there is an easier way to do this built right into Lightroom itself.
Typically, on Mac OSX you’ll find your Lightroom location in the Application Support folder for Adobe, within the “Develop Presets” file. With the Windows OS, your presets will still be in the Develop Preset Folder, but under the App. Data and Roaming files.
You can see where any image is stored on your disk by right clicking that image (or choose Photo on the menu bar) and then Show in Explorer (Show in Finder on the Mac). You can also see where any image in a Collection exists inside your Lightroom folder structure by right clicking on that image and choose Go to Folder in Library.
How do I install Lightroom presets on a new computer?
Installing your presets on a new computer is super easy. Just open your new version of Lightroom and open your Preferences folder (Mac: Lightroom> Preferences PC: Edit> Preferences). Choose the Presets Tab from the new window that opens up. Half-way down, click on “Show Lightroom Presets Folder”.
Select Import Presets from the dropdown menu. Navigate to the folder ‘Lightroom and Lightroom Classic since Apr 2018 (.. XMP)’, select the presets ZIP file (s) and click Import. → Selecting the ZIP file (s) is the preferred import method here, because it preserves the folder structure of the archive.
Click on the button Show Lightroom Presets Folder. Double click on the Lightroom folder, then double click on Develop Presets folder. Navigate to the folder ‘Lightroom 4-6 and Classic CC before Apr 2018 (.lrtemplate)’ and copy the folder (s) ‘ Northlandscapes – PRODUCT’ into the Develop Presets folder. Restart Lightroom and you‘re done!
