, and sadly no. Xero is clearly designed for accountants NOT business people – and certainly not manufacturing companies. We have to create an invoice then turn it into a “Packing List” to use as a delivery note, once we’ve printed it to go with the shipment, we turn it back into an invoice to send to the customer.
Another thing we asked ourselves was; is there a delivery note in Xero?
We are new Xero-ers and I’m amazed that this functionality ( Delivery Note) is not a quick adn simple process. Given that businesses like Foodstuffs are moving to SAP and they demand a paper delivery note with every delivery it is a real hassle to have to waste time with clunky workarounds.
There’s two ways to make the most of this feature. Create one branding theme that includes both an Invoice, and a delivery note, or have one branding theme for your Invoice, and another for the delivery note. Head to this Xero Central page, and Download the Packing slip and invoice template.
How often do you send out orders and invoice in Xero?
We send out orders daily and invoice weekly. We would like to generate packing slips in Xero that are then consolidated for the week into one invoice.

Xero uses tracking categories and options instead of department codes or cost centres. This keeps your chart of accounts manageable. You can have two active tracking categories.

Also, what do you struggle with with Xero payments?
We struggle with payments if clients’ payment office don’t get a POD (proof of delivery ), in the form of a signed delivery note, that match a said invoice. Merging this here Heidi. Thanks @Ian & @Patrick, Tracking is what you’d use in Xero to report on cost centres. You are currently able to use two Tracking categories (with multiple sub categories) for reporting on your income vs expenditure.
