Slack does not archive deleted messages or provide a way to recover deleted information. Once a user deletes a particular message, that message is gone forever. However, Slack may still retain information about deleted messages that can be included in an electronic discovery export.

If you delete a Slack message, it deletes for everybody. The message will be erased from all parties. If you delete the original message of a thread, the thread will also be deleted. So be mindful when deleting messages as they will be deleted for everybody and cannot be recovered.

How long does slack retain messages and files?
By default, Slack will retain all messages and files (including audio and video clips) for the lifetime of your workspace. If you’d like, you can adjust your retention settings to automatically delete messages and files after a set amount of time.
Links, snippets, posts, uploaded files, replies in a thread, messages in archived channels, and messages from bot users all count towards your workspace’s total number of messages sent. Note: Deleted messages, Slackbot messages, and messages you send to your personal DM do not count towards the message limit.
How do I delete messages in slack?
