The most popular video-chatting apps, including Google Hangouts and Skype for Business, don’t support 4K. You’ll also need a 4k Monitor to truly appreciate the picture and if who you’re chatting to online doesn’t have one, then they’ll only see you in 1080p. You can stream 4K videos to You. Tube if you have enough bandwidth.
One source claimed that streaming 4K video requires at least a 25-35 Mbps connection, so you’ll likely need at least that (on the upload side) if you want to transmit your face over video chats. Another big issue is that Skype, Google Hangouts and other popular chat apps support a maximum 1080p video, and let’s not even talk about the computing horsepower required.
When you make a call, Skype will use on average between 24-128kbps. Audio calls should be possible with most internet connections. Video calls use a lot more bandwidth, so if you are having issues with the quality of your video calls, we recommend: Closing other applications that use the internet, especially those playing music or video.
USB video cameras with integrated H.264 hardware encoder that conforms to the USB Video Class (UVC) specification version 1.5. Note: Skype for Business supports UVC 1.5 cameras with Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, which includes support for UVC 1.5.
What is 4K video conferencing and how does it work?
Today, sharp 4K video conferencing is no surprise for all our users. 4K (aka Ultra HD or 2,160p) has enough pixels to fill four Full HD (1,080p) displays, so you can fit a number of conference participants on the same screen keeping the picture crisp and clean. Can’t wait to try it yourself?
Should I get a 1080p or a 4K webcam?
Many are quite a bit more expensive than 1080p ones, so if you’re price conscious, then perhaps that’s another reason to go for a lower resolution 1080p webcam instead. Many of the 4K webcams are quite a bit bulkier and heavier than 1080p ones, as they carry larger and more powerful sensors.
If you don’t have such a NUC, you may use a PC with Intel Core i5-8600 / i5-9500 processor, DDR4 8 Gb RAM, working in dual channel mode and NVIDIA GTX 1050 video card or better! This video card supports NVIDIA NVENC technology that allows encoding 4K video streams. In this case, use 397.93 video driver or above.
