Shopify doesn’t take a percentage of your sales on the platform. Instead, you are required to pay according to the type of plan that you have. Before developing a store in Shopify, you have to decide on which type of plan will suit your needs.
Does shopify take a percentage?
To sum it up, Shopify won’t take any percentage of your sales. You will only pay for what features and advantages you choose in the form of a plan. If you choose the Shopify Basic, you are expected to pay $29 per month.
What Percentage does Shopify take for Shopify Plan: Shopify – This is the standard plan for Shopify, and it costs around $79 monthly. However, it features different rates of credit cards. In order to receive credit card payments using this plan, you will have to pay 2.6 percent and 30 cents on each transaction.

Can I use Shopify Payments without a third party payment gateway?
If you are not from one of them, you cannot use Shopify Payments as so it is a must for you to use a third party payment gateway. It means you will have to pay a transaction fee that varies from 0.5 percent to 2 percent that depends on the pricing plan you are using.
Are there any transaction fees with Shopify Lite?
There are no transaction fees to worry about with ‘Shopify Lite’, so long as you are prepared to use Shopify’s own payment processing option — Shopify Payments — as the payment gateway. There is a bit of a catch here for some users however, as Shopify Payments is not yet available in all countries.

The monthly subscription fee primarily provides you access to the Platform, ie. Shopify and its selling tools in order to get your e-commerce store up and working. The transaction fee is supposed to power your store continuously. However, you only have to pay this fee whenever a customer makes a purchase from you.
