Does notion support markdown?

Markdown is supported natively in Notion. It follows that you can write in Markdown and Notion will render it appropriately on the Notion page. If you want a Heading 1 heading on your page, you can simply type # and a space and Notion will understand you want a heading 1 as shown in the screenshot below: You can use most of the standard markdown text formatting schema in Notion.

Like many modern note-taking apps, Notion allows you to use Markdown to format your text as you write. While Notion does this, it also gives you to option to export a plaintext .md file, which will contain all the original markup. You can find this at the top-right 3-dot menu → Export. From there, choose Markdown & CSV as your export format.

Does notion have text formatting capabilities?

While it may not have the same level of text formatting capability as Microsoft Word, Notion does give you a lot of flexibility with your content. Notion has a multi-featured writing system that gives you many ways to do things. You can format your text using Markdown, keyboard shortcuts, or with a toolbar that comes up when you highlight text.

It’s also difficult to edit Markdown-formatted text that you’ve copied and pasted in Notion. Notion provides support for the following Markdown elements. When copying and pasting Markdown-formatted text, you can also use a trailing backslash or press the Return key once to achieve the same result.

What is WYSIWYG Markdown?

In Notion, when you wrap text in Markdown characters, your formatting changes are applied immediately inside the editor. This is often called a WYSIWYG ( What You See is What You Get ) Markdown editor, and it’s my favorite type of text editor. Notion applies Markdown formatting immediately.

Why can’t I open my notes in the notion app?

Almost everyone has at least one app that can open and read PDFs. However, in Notion, that option is only available for their most expensive subscriptions. This means your notes are trapped in the app unless you can appreciate Markdown, CVS and HTML formats. I exported my workspace from Notion, firstly as a Markdown and CVS.
