Google Drive does not reduce your video quality after uploading. Lower quality video is your option from the Storage saver plan. When you upload a video or photo to Google Drive, it gives you 2 options to store those data, Original qualityand Storage saver.
So, does Google Drive change the quality of photos and videos?
My answer was from experience, Google Drive does not change the quality of videos or photos. If you upload to Google Photos, there’s a choice to upload in original or high quality. The former will count towards storage use. The latter will not. However there’s a slight decrease in quality.
Google never compromise with quality that applied for anything. According to Google guidelines, under 100 KB images are easy to carry and up-loadable for any kind of virtual drive. Google drive never decrease pixels because it also offer 15GB that’s why Google do not need to decrease pixels for an image.
Then, does Google Photos use up a lot of storage?
This is what our research found. google Photos, however, is an online photo album, so it probably does sampling. There is an option in google photos to store the originals or ‘high quality’ versions. If you have ‘high quality’ on, then it doesn’t use your storage allowance but the quality is reduced.
Why is there a high quality option on Google Photos?
Because the High Quality Option compresses your photos, and that’s how they offer you unlimited storage. If you choose Original Quality, your photos are saved at the original resolution, but it counts against the free space Google gives you (that also houses your gmail, drive, etc.).
What happens when you upload a picture on Google Drive?
When you upload a picture on Google Drive, it keeps the resolution of the photos as they were taken. You can even set this on Google Photos by choosing to backup in ‘Original Quality’.
