You can’t make GIFs in After Effects. Or at least, you can’t make GIFs directly in After Effects unless you buy third-party tool called GIFGun. However, by using some free tools you can convert After Effects videos into GIFs in no-time.
After Effects has minimal support for GIF files (it really depends on what version you’re using). I’d probably save the gif as a .mov or . mp4 file, edit in After Effects and then re-save as a GIF.
Can I download GIFs from Photoshop?
The good thing is Photoshop is included in the Creative Cloud, so if you have a CC subscription you can easily download it on your machine. STEP 1: EXPORT VIDEO FROM AFTER EFFECTS. The process of exporting a GIF out of Photoshop starts with exporting a video from After Effects.
Create a GIF Using an App Another way to quickly create a GIF is to use a third party application on your machine like GIF Rocket or Photoscape. Because I use a Mac I use GIF Rocket all the time to quickly convert video clips to GIFs. All you do is save a video clip from After Effects and drag and drop the video file over the application.
The process of exporting a GIF out of Photoshop starts with exporting a video from After Effects. You can export a video using any codec, I recommend using a compressed video file because you will be taking a quality decrease when you create the GIF anyways.
Why does after effects require more memory to complete a task?
If your running 8GB or 16GB of RAM you may end up getting an error message from After Effects saying that it requires more memory to complete a task. This could happen for a number of reasons. I’ve had it happen to me in the past because I had 4 other applications running in the background that were eating up memory allocation.
The minimum amount of RAM that After Effects needs to run is 8GB. However, Adobe recommends using 16GB of RAM. For my system I run 32GB of RAM which allows After Effects to run incredibly smooth.
The minimum for using after effects with little lag and run somewhat smoothly is 16GB ram, the recommended is 32 and above. If you play on taking after effects seriously you should probably aim for 32GB but a 16GB one should work as well.
In short, RAM is needed in After Effects to allow your computer to quickly access data, instead of your computer going to the hard drive to search for that data. Think of RAM like book shelf, on this book shelf you have added all of the books that you want direct access to at any time.
How much RAM should I allocate to AE?
So if your running 32GB of RAM you can tell AE to set aside 24GB of RAM for itself, leaving you with 8GB of RAM for other applications. Please remember that this RAM allocation is only in effect while AE is running.
