Google Photos stores your photos and videos in “the cloud” — this is just tech-talk for online storage. In the past, you might have plugged your phone or camera into your computer and laboriously transferred all your photos and videos. From there, you might have backed up your computer on an external hard drive.
Does Google own my photos Once I upload them to Google?
For the most part no. Such as they can’t use your private images in advertisements or promotions etc, without your permission. However if you post them publicly in Facebook or Google+ from Google Photo’s then they are fair game.
We had an idea that Google might be breaking the photo component out of Google+, but there were a few surprises in store when Google Photos was offically unveilved at I/O this year. Assume Google Images Are Protected by Copyright Although some images found in search engines may be in the public domain, you should actually assume the opposite – that all online content is protected by copyright law. Even content from other countries may be protected by copyright law in your own country.

In recent years Google has implemented initiatives that make it easier for you to find credit, creator and copyright information, as well as to identify licensable images in your image searches. Such information is available where the publisher or creator provides it in the image metadata.
Does Google Photos count as free storage on Google one?
Now, any new Storage saver photos uploaded via Google Photos will be counted as part of your 15GB free storage on Google One. Keep in mind that that’s just for new photos uploaded on or after June 1. Any Storage saver photos uploaded before that date will not count on your Google One storage limit.
