A common query we ran across in our research was “Can Xero payroll make bank payments?”.
The UK Xero Payroll does not make bank payments. Once you post it to Xero it simply posts the amounts to the correct accounts codes .
Xero Payroll does not calculate wages based on the employees start date. If your employee starts halfway through a pay run/ pay period, a manual adjustment of their hours and tax will need to be done. We use a monthy pay cycle that ends 28th of each month.
While we were writing we ran into the inquiry “Can Xero get bank feeds to initiate payments?”.
I think at most Xero can get bank feeds, but not actually initiate payments. No, you still need to physically transfer the wages to your employees yourself through your online banking plaform.
How are hours accrued in Xero?
Based on Ordinary Earnings – A relative number of hours the employee accrues each pay period, based on an employee’s ordinary earnings for the pay run. The number of hours accrued annually should be based on a full-time employee. Xero will pro-rata the accrual accordingly.
(Only applies to Based on Ordinary Earnings ). The first time you assign leave to an employee, you can assign Xero’s default leave types. Only employees with an Employment Basis of full-time or part-time employment are eligible for leave entitlements. In the Payroll menu, select Employees. Click the employee’s name to open their details.
Can I download ABA files from Xero?
You are able to, however, download an ABA file once you have processed the pay run in Xero – this will bring across the employee’s bank details (provided you’ve included that information in Xero), as well as the net wages to be paid – so that you don’t have to re-key in that information when paying them.
