Does waze sell my information?

Waze does not sell, rent or lease your personal information to third parties. Waze will not share your personal information with others, without your permission, except for the following purposes and to the extent necessary in Waze’s good-faith discretion: As necessary for the facilitation and operation of the Services.

We explain how Waze uses information in Why Waze collects data. We explain when Waze may share information in Sharing your information. Waze does not sell your personal information. The CCPA also provides the right to request information about how Waze collects, uses, and discloses your personal information.

Another popular question is “How long does Waze store your data?”.

And because Waze stores your data indefinitely, it’s not just your current data that could be shared, but all of the data collected while you used Waze. Great as Waze may be at serving relevant, real-time, useful traffic information, the app is a privacy nightmare.

What did waze offer google?

Waze’s design and user experience is more fun, liter and more interactive. Wazers can be religious about reporting traffic jams or speed traps, and Google knows that it can use that. Waze gives Google the perfect opportunity to leverage Google+ and make Google Maps more social.

One common answer is, though it’s unknown exactly how much data is shared between the two apps, Waze and Google Maps are known to collect real-time traffic data from users who are already on the road. Because of this, both apps do provide accurate directions that take into account traffic jams, major road closures, and more.

Waze has the option of selling the collected traffic and map data to other companies. However small this might be, it still plays a big role in the reason why Google purchased Waze – the ability to serve targeted ads based on the location and user-data. The $1.3 billion bid from Google to buy Waze was a big move from Google’s side.

How many users does Waze have?

At the time of Google’s acquisition, there were nearly 50 million Waze users. In 2017, an option was added for motorcycle users, as well as specialized routes for people eligible to drive in carpool lanes.

Since then Waze has expanded to over 185 countries and has gotten over 115 million monthly active users on an average by the end of 2018. Waze was purchased by Google in June 2013 for around $1.3 billion dollars to help improve its own mapping service – Google Maps. As of writing, Waze still remains as a stand-alone app.

What makes Waze stand out from other navigation apps?

Up to now, the ability to report and receive reports about upcoming traffic, road hazards and police sightings is what has made Waze stand out from all the other navigation apps out there. If drivers can get the same features from faster-loading Google Maps, which is superior in practically every other way, why do they still need Waze?
